Privacy policy

How HiredConstruction collects, uses and looks after your personal information, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Last updated: 27 October 2026 · Version 1.0

1. Who we are

HiredConstruction ("we", "us", "our") helps construction businesses find, attract, hire and keep staff through coaching, online courses, done-for-you recruitment and The Crew Builder, our job and hiring software. We're based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, with a second base in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Some small businesses don't have to follow the Privacy Act. Whether or not it applies to us, we choose to handle personal information in line with the APPs because it's the right thing to do.

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:

  • “Notify me” signups (for the hiring report) and the hiring cost check: your first name, email address and phone number. For the hiring cost check we also keep the answers you tap (ranges such as how many people you hire a year) and the rough estimate and recommendation it works out.
  • Enquiries and discovery calls: your name, business name, email, phone number and details about the roles or hiring problems you tell us about.
  • Coaching and course customers: contact and billing details, your course progress and, for Course Plus, the role briefs and job ads you upload for review. Card payments are processed by our payment provider; we never see or store your full card number.
  • Crew Builder users: your account and company details, the jobs, quotes, invoices, timesheets and candidates you add, and, if you switch on the site check, the location when a worker clocks on.
  • Done For You clients: role briefs, pay rates, site details and the contact details of people in your business we work with.
  • Candidates and referees: see section 6.
  • Website data: basic technical information your browser sends, such as IP address, browser type and pages visited (see section 9). When you send us a form, we also record the page you first arrived on, the website that referred you and any campaign tags in the link you followed (for example utm_source=linkedin), so we know where enquiries come from.

We don't ask for sensitive information (such as health information) unless it's genuinely needed for a role and you agree to provide it.

3. How we collect it

Mostly directly from you: when you fill in a form on this website, book a call, buy a course, email or phone us. When we recruit for a client, we may also collect information from job boards and professional networks (such as Indeed and LinkedIn), from publicly available profiles, and from referees a candidate nominates.

You can deal with us without giving your name where that's practical (for example, a general question by email), but we can't email you or recruit for you without contact details.

4. Why we use it

  • To send you what you ask for, such as an email when the hiring report is ready.
  • To contact you about your enquiry. We ask for your phone number so we can contact you about your enquiry, for example to follow up on your signup or hiring cost check.
  • To run coaching calls, give you access to courses and deliver recruitment services.
  • To match candidates to roles and check references (with the candidate's knowledge).
  • To answer questions, send invoices and keep business records.
  • To improve the website and our services.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We don't sell your personal information. Ever.

5. Emails and direct marketing

When you sign up to hear about the hiring report, we'll email you when it's ready and, from time to time, practical hiring tips and information about our coaching, courses and services. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop by emailing us. We follow the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We use your phone number only to contact you about your enquiry.

6. Candidates and referees

When we fill roles for clients, we handle candidates' personal information, such as CVs, work history, tickets and licences, right-to-work status and referee feedback. We use it only to assess and put candidates forward for roles, and we share a candidate's details with a client only for a specific role. We contact referees only with the candidate's permission. Candidates can ask what we hold about them, or ask us to delete it, at any time.

7. Who we share it with

We share personal information only where needed to run our business, with providers who help us do that. These may include:

  • Website hosting and form handling (Netlify)
  • Email (Microsoft 365)
  • Email marketing (MailerLite)
  • Call booking (Calendly)
  • Payments (Stripe) and our own course and software platform, with data stored in MongoDB Atlas
  • Our accountant, lawyers and IT support, where needed
  • Clients, in the case of candidates put forward for a role (see section 6)

We may also disclose information where the law requires or allows it.

8. Overseas storage

Some of the providers above store data on servers outside Australia, for example in the United States or the European Union. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure they handle it in a way that's consistent with the APPs.

9. Cookies and analytics

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. At the time of writing, this website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run third-party advertising.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, date and time, and page requested) for security and to keep the site running. If we add website analytics, we'll prefer a privacy-friendly tool and update this policy to name it and explain any cookies it uses.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

10. Security and how long we keep it

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including secure (HTTPS) connections, reputable providers, strong passwords and two-factor authentication. We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, then delete or de-identify it.

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we'll act under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme where it applies, including telling the people affected.

11. Access and correction

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing robert@hiredconstruction.com. We'll respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

12. Questions and complaints

If you have a question or a complaint about how we've handled your personal information, contact us first and we'll do our best to fix it within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
