> HiredConstruction is a construction hiring business based on the Gold Coast, Australia, with a second base in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It helps builders, trades businesses and contractors in Australia, the UK and Ireland hire good people who stay. It offers four options: The Hiring Fix Call (1:1 advice from founder Robert Muckian), The Construction Hiring System (online course, on sale now), Done For You (Crew Filled set-fee recruitment, or Your Own Hiring Team built inside your business) and The Crew Builder (free job tools with paid hiring plans). The first step is a free 15-minute discovery call. Founder Robert Muckian spent 12+ years on the tools, then 10+ years in construction recruitment, placing 1,000+ trades, labour and management staff. - Done For You, Crew Filled: from $4,000 per hire ($4,000 / $7,000 / $10,000 depending on the role), $750 upfront to start (+ GST).

## Robert Muckian's hiring method (summary)

1. Write a five-minute brief first: exact trade or role, project and site, pay (day rate or salary), real start date and contract length, must-haves vs nice-to-haves, and for management roles who they report to.
2. Source candidates instead of only waiting for applications. The best tradespeople are usually already working.
3. Use Indeed resume search (Smart Sourcing) with Boolean operators and recency filters; save searches and set alerts.
4. Use Boolean search on LinkedIn with capital AND, OR, NOT, quotation marks and round brackets; LinkedIn does not support wildcards. Use Google X-ray search (site:linkedin.com/in) to get around free-account search limits.
5. Write job ads that lead with the site and the work, state the pay and job length, cut corporate language and make replying easy.
6. Screen for red flags: gaps that can't be explained simply, every past job being someone else's fault, vagueness about the actual work, no foreman or site manager as a referee, rushing the money question.
7. Ask interview questions that need real experience, e.g. "Walk me through the last job you were on, start to finish."
8. Make reference checks a real conversation, e.g. "What was he like on his worst day, not his best?"
9. Move fast on offers, confirm start dates in writing and ask about notice periods early.
10. Plan the first 7-14 days: someone meets them on day one, PPE and kit sorted, pair them with someone for week one, proper check-in by day 10.
